San Antonio is ranked No. 4 among the nation's next “boom towns” in a recent Forbes magazine article.

Austin is ranked No. 1, followed by Raleigh, N.C., and Nashville, Tenn. After San Antonio, Houston is ranked No. 5 and Dallas No. 7.

The July 6 article selected 10 next boom towns from the nation's 52 largest metropolitan areas, those with populations of more than 1 million.

“Aided by relatively low housing prices and buoyant economies, these Lone Star cities have become major hubs for jobs and families,” according to the article by Joel Kotkin. Research for the article was provided by Praxis Strategy Group.
