2019 is San Antonio’s Year to Win Big
By Jenna Saucedo-Herrera

This year will be San Antonio’s year to take charge and execute on the momentum that has been building in recent years.

2018 was an exciting year for our San Antonio community. We reached a pivotal milestone, celebrating 300 years of history as San Antonio has evolved into a culturally rich city of the future, offering growth opportunity for forward-thinking companies and the talented workforce they will employ. We celebrated the Czech-based company OKIN BPS selecting San Antonio for its U.S. headquarters on our city’s south side, the community getting involved in a comprehensive transportation plan to smartly accommodate San Antonio's projected growth, and the San Pedro Creek Culture Park’s first segment opening to the delight of locals and tourists. As we start a new year, I’m invigorated by the progress made in 2018 and even more excited about the potential to realize greater, targeted growth for our community this year.

During the month of January, SAEDF will announce more deals than we ever have in a 30-day period. All of these projects are either target industry or headquarter deals, which further validates the evolution of our strategic efforts. Last week’s announcement that Victory Capital will relocate its corporate headquarters from Cleveland, Ohio to San Antonio signals to other companies that San Antonio possesses both the exceptional quality of life that attracts corporate executives and young professionals, and the competitive workforce and cost of doing business that supports scalable business growth.

Continuity and continuation of SAEDF priorities in 2019 will propel our community into a year of enhanced economic progress. That means continuing to work projects at an increased scope and scale, but it also means reaping the benefits of the refined economic development approach SAEDF deployed in order to reach our goal of injecting $45 billion in economic impact in San Antonio by 2020. Getting better at what we do, and elevating San Antonio’s ability to compete globally are at the heart of our priorities.

We will continue building on this momentum, making 2019 San Antonio’s best year yet. Team San Antonio is diving into the new year with the intention of executing bigger and better than we ever have before. While our Tricentennial year was a time to reflect on our past and set our sights on the next 300 years, 2019 is our year to execute and capitalize on our collective growth momentum to ensure San Antonio’s future economic prosperity.
