Creative City of Gastronomy Gains World’s Largest Sous Vide Facility

One of UNESCO’s Creative Cities of Gastronomy, San Antonio is increasingly recognized for its culinary mastery. With one of three U.S. campuses for the Culinary Institute of America, San Antonio will now also be home to the largest sous vide manufacturing facility in the world.

Cuisine Solutions, the industry-leading provider of high-quality prepared gourmet entrees, sauces and other menu items to food service providers around the globe, will open its fourth U.S. plant in San Antonio at Brooks. The new plant will add more than 500 jobs to the south side in the coming years.

“Brooks is the ideal location for us to establish our presence west of the Mississippi River,” said Stanislas Vilgrain, Cuisine Solutions Chairman & CEO. “San Antonio has an industrious and enthusiastic workforce that we’ll tap into to help support our growth and meet the increasing demand for our restaurant-quality products.”

The project represents the largest single investment on the Brooks campus to date with an initial capital investment estimated at $120 million. The 290,000-square foot state-of-the-art facility will be located on approximately 23.7 acres of land on Aviation Landing across from the currently under construction light industrial facility. Construction on the facility is projected to begin in March 2019 with opening anticipated in mid-2020.

This will be Cuisine Solutions’ sixth production facility, with others located in Virginia, France, Thailand, and one opening soon in Pennsylvania. The San Antonio location will bring a level of innovation and technology even higher than their most recent plant located in Sterling and will enable the company to meet increased demand for their high quality sous vide products, for customers in restaurants, airlines, hotels, retail and foodservice business.
