Call For Employers: Hire a Student Today!

SA Works is welcoming employer participation in the Summer Jobs program. Summer Jobs connects high school students with San Antonio employers to promote experiential learning and real world job experience. In the summer of 2016, over 20 employers supported 140 student internships. Now in its third summer, the program continues to grow and support valuable learning experiences for local students.

β€œIt’s important for students to identify a career path early on so they know what skills and certifications, they need to obtain. Internships are a critical part of that process and help inform those decisions,” said Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff.

With the support of local employers, Summer Jobs is facilitating the creation of a robust pipeline for the next generation of talent, helping drive new ideas and perspective, and can help students discover careers in in-demand occupations. And beyond this, opening your doors to summer interns can have real return for your organization. Students working in the HEB Electronics and Maintenance department saved the organization $35,000 in repair cost over the summer of 2016.

The process is simple: 1) your company identifies an area where interns could be placed and mentored, 2) develop the job description and 3) designate your company point of contact for internship coordination. SA Works will match students based on their career interest with our local employers.
