San Antonio has a wide variety of homes ranging from less than $100,000 to more than $2 million. Low interest rates continue to fuel the housing market and homes in San Antonio sell relatively quickly. According to the San Antonio Board of Realtors (SABOR), as of June 2011, the San Antonio real estate market maintains its stable position as average and median prices for single-family homes continue a steady climb. In addition, in May 2011, 1,782 single-family homes were sold, a 19.3% increase from April 2011. The average price for a single-family home was $191,750 with a median of $153,400. Single-Family Home Prices by Area in San Antonio (May 2011)The Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University reports that the majority of the homes sold in San Antonio were in the $120,000 to $139,999 price range, approximately $50,000 less than similar homes in other markets. Housing developments are sprouting throughout the city, but there are specific neighborhoods experiencing a higher influx of new homes. Many homes are being built in the Northeast Region along the Loop 1604. Equally popular is the North Central Region. Generally these are well-defined and well-established neighborhoods such as Monte Vista, Olmos Park, Alamo Heights, Castle Hills and Stone Oak. The costs are very competitive and apartments are typically fully furnished with furniture and housewares, a linen package for bed, bath and kitchen, cable, internet services, and housekeeping services. Relocation AssistanceThe need to transfer key personnel is an important aspect of the company's site selection process. San Antonio has several major residential real estate brokerage firms with corporate relocation departments. There are rental relocation companies that provide relocation assistance. Apartment rental rates range from $800 for a one bedroom to more than $2,000 for a three bedroom. In recent years, developers' interest in renovating historic buildings into living quarters has surged. Among these projects are the Majestic and Brady Buildings, Robert E. Lee Building, Calcasieu Building, Maverick Building, Cadillac Lofts and a variety of new buildings that continue to be built. There are nearly 1,700 existing rental units with several under construction. In addition, a few medium / high-rise condominium facilities are under construction. There are more than 100 condominium units under construction in the King William area of downtown.
