University of Texas at San Antonio

The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) was founded in 1969. Today, UTSA’s three campuses include the 1604 Campus, the Downtown Campus and the Institute of Texan Cultures. UTSA is one of the fastest growing public universities in the nation, and the second largest component of the prestigious University of Texas System, second only to the University of Texas at Austin. With a record enrollment of 30,258 students in 2010, graduate and undergraduate students were enrolled in 124 academic degree programs including 19 doctoral programs, 43 master’s programs and 62 bachelor’s programs. The College of Business is the largest business program in the UT System and one of the 40 largest business schools in the nation. UTSA is one of the largest science-related educational facilities in Texas. The expansion of the Biotechnology, Sciences and Engineering facility added $150 million in instructional and research space for undergraduate and graduate programs. University of the Incarnate Word

Founded in 1881, the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is located in historic Alamo Heights. The university is a dynamic, private Catholic institution of over 7,000 students that offers more than 70 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Small classes averaging 25 students and a student-to-faculty ratio of 14:1 help students thrive. St. Mary’s University

St. Mary’s University, founded in 1852, is the oldest university in San Antonio, and the oldest and largest Catholic university in both Texas and the southwest. The university is nationally recognized among the top universities in the west in U.S. News & World Report’s“Americas’s Best Colleges” annual survey, Kaplan/Newsweek College Guide, and the Templeton Foundation. St. Mary’s 192 full-time faculty members, 94 percent of whom hold doctoral or terminal degrees in their fields, are committed to student success in and out of the classroom. St. Mary’s has approximately 70 undergraduate and graduate majors and offers more than 120 degree programs, which include two doctoral and two law programs, and 12 undergraduate and 10 graduate joint programs. University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is the leading research institution in south Texas and one of the major health science universities in the world. The Health Science Center is the chief catalyst for the $18.9 billion bioscience and health care industry, one of the leading sectors in San Antonio’s economy. The Health Science Center has had an estimated $34 billion impact on the region since inception and has expanded to six campuses in San Antonio, Laredo, Harlingen and Edinburg. Our Lady of the Lake University

Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU), established in 1895, is an independent, Catholic, coeducational, liberal arts institution with an enrollment of approximately 2,610. OLLU offers 59 undergraduate areas of study, 37 areas of study at the master’s level and two doctoral degrees, one in psychology and one in leadership studies. OLLU offers classes at its main campus in San Antonio and at a regional campus in Houston. A leader in educational excellence and innovation, the university has daytime, night and weekend programs. Available degrees range from liberal arts and environmental science to electronic commerce. OLLU was the first university in Texas to offer college on the weekend and a Ph.D. in leadership studies. Trinity University

Trinity University, founded in 1869, is one of the nation’s top private, primarily undergraduate institutions. Noted for its superior academic quality, outstanding faculty, and exceptional academic and residential resources, Trinity has been consistently ranked among America’s best colleges by U.S. News and World Report. Trinity offers 39 majors and 52 minors. In addition to strength in the liberal arts and sciences, these majors include professional programs in communication, education, business administration, engineering science, and computer science. Degrees offered include the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Music. Two five-year programs lead to a bachelor’s degree followed by a master’s degree in teaching or accounting. Texas A&M University at San Antonio

Texas A&M University-San Antonio was created to address an educational need in south San Antonio. The Texas Legislature asked The Texas A&M University System to establish a center that would offer junior- and senior-level courses in south San Antonio. The University, then known as Texas A&M University-Kingsville System Center- San Antonio, was approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in January 2000. On May 23, 2009, Gov. Rick Perry signed Senate Bill 629 that created Texas A&M-San Antonio as a stand-alone university. Wayland Baptist University

Wayland Baptist University’s campus in San Antonio is a private, faith-based university that has offered affordable associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business, education and Christian ministry since 1984. Wayland San Antonio has grown to 1,763 students in 2009. Every year, Wayland San Antonio awards more than 600 associate, baccalaureate and master’s degrees. Wayland San Antonio is a proven leader in providing higher education to nontraditional, working students whose average age is 37 years. Undergraduate majors are offered in business administration, management, human services, occupational education and religion. Texas Lutheran University

For more than 100 years, Texas Lutheran University (TLU) has offered high quality programs in the liberal arts, sciences and professional and pre-professional studies. This exclusively undergraduate university is located in Seguin, just 35 minutes from downtown San Antonio. TLU averages a class size of 20 students, who have the choice of degrees in nearly 40 academic disciplines and pre-professional programs on campus. Fall 2009 enrollment was 1,389. The university also offers numerous learning programs, including internships, on campus research, the Washington Semester Program, and the International Student Exchange Program, enabling students to study in countries around the world.
