Northwest Vista College
Northwest Vista College began offering classes in the fall of 1995 as one of the newest additions to the Alamo Colleges. Classes were held at the Northside Independent School District and at partner corporation sites. The enrollment that first semester was 12 students. Currently there are nearly 16,000 students taking courses at Northwest Vista College and several off-site locations in a traditional daytime classroom setting as well as evening, internet, hybrid and weekend courses. Most of the programs offered lead to a two-year associate degree or one-year certificate option. During the 2008-2009 academic year, Northwest Vista college opened five new buildings: Redbud Learning Center, Juniper Hall Academic Building, Live Oak Hall for Science and Social Sciences, Cypress Campus Center and Palmetto Center for the Arts, adding 319,947 square feet of space to a growing campus.
