Wage and Benefit Survey

The following wage and benefit information is taken from the 2011 San Antonio Area Wage and Benefit survey published on April 19, 2011 by Werling and Associates. The San Antonio Economic Development Foundation is authorized to use this information.

Ninety-three companies representing a wide cross-section of the greater San Antonio business community participated in the survey. The following data is intended to provide an indication of local trends and an overview of the total information available. Upon request, the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation can provide specific wage surveys, but examples for various occupations/industries are below. Not all firms have employees in all classifications.

The three columns represent the average hourly wages of all the firms reporting for that occupation. The first column is the average of low rates reported; the second is the average of reported average rates; the third is the average of high rates reported.

Workers' Compensation

Workers' compensation is a state-regulated insurance system that provides covered employees with income and medical benefits if they are injured on the job or have a work-related injury or illness. Except in cases of gross negligence, workers' compensation insurance limits an employer's liability if an employee brings suit against the employer for damages. In Texas, private employers can choose whether or not to carry workers' compensation insurance coverage. Find out more about workers' compensation here.
