The San Antonio Economic Development Foundation (SAEDF) is a private, nonprofit organization that assists business and industry relocating or expanding into the San Antonio area. Since 1975, SAEDF has been directly responsible for bringing more than 340 companies to our city and creating more than 90,000 jobs for San Antonians. Specifically in the last five years, SAEDF has located 77 companies and brought nearly 22,000 jobs, creating a total economic impact of more than $7.8 billion. Recent SAEDF locations include:

MissionThe mission of the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation is to lead the development and diversification of the San Antonio regional economy through the recruitment and expansion of quality employers and job producing investments. Mario Hernandez / PresidentMario Hernandez serves as president of the Foundation and is responsible for recruiting new business and industry to the San Antonio metropolitan area. Hernandez has worked in the economic development field for more than 30 years in San Antonio, Austin and Corpus Christi. Before joining SAEDF, he served as manager of business development for the Texas Economic Development Commission. A Texas A&M-Kingsville graduate, Mr. Hernandez has served as president of the Foundation since 1990. During this time, he has overseen the location of such companies as PETCO, Nationwide, Medtronic, Microsoft, Accenture, Toyota, Chase, Texas Cryptologic Center, Citigroup, The Capital Group, Johnson Controls, Maxim and Boeing. In 2003 Hernandez was named National Economic Developer of the Year by the World Economic Development Alliance, and in 2008 he was named one of the top 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the nation by Hispanic Business Magazine.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it As Vice President of SAEDF, Misty Mayo is responsible for recruiting new business and industry to the San Antonio metropolitan area. Mayo has worked as the lead on projects such as Medtronic (1,398 jobs, announced in 2009), Healthways/Medco joint venture (400 jobs, announced in 2008), Allstate (598 jobs, announced in 2010), Kohl’s (1,065 jobs, announced 2010), Becton Dickinson (298 jobs, announced 2010), VMC/Volt (600 jobs, announced 2010), PETCO’s customer service headquarters (600 jobs, announced 2010), and most recently J.Crew (270 jobs, announced 2011). A San Antonio native, Mayo has more than 20 years of experience in varied aspects of recruitment, executive management, sales, communications, strategic planning and marketing. She holds a B.A. from West Texas A&M University and a nonprofit management certification from Texas Tech University.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it As Vice President of SAEDF, Omar Garcia is responsible for recruiting and retaining new business and international initiatives. Garcia has more than 10 years of economic development experience working for the Governor’s Office, TIP Strategies, Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development, and City of San Antonio Economic Development Department. Professional highlights include, recruiting the Houston Astros Double A Team to Corpus Christi, founding the City of San Antonio’s first Business Retention & Expansion Program, and recruiting thousands of jobs to the San Antonio region. Garcia has recently worked with Rackspace, Nationwide, San Antonio Aerospace, Affiliated Computer Services, Boeing and Allstate. Garcia is a certified economic development finance professional through the National Development Council and is currently working on a professional economic development certification through the International Economic Development Council. Garcia is a graduate of St. Edwards University, with a major in international business & Spanish. Governor Perry recently appointed him to the Texas Economic Development Corporation.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it Matthew Myers joined SAEDF as Vice President in 2010 and is responsible for implementing recruitment and retention and expansion programs to help San Antonio attract new businesses and industry. Before joining SAEDF, Myers was a senior economic development specialist for the City of San Antonio. Myers has nearly five years of experience in economic development, holds a bachelor's and Juris Doctorate from Texas Tech University.

Johnston is responsible for growing business recruitment efforts, implementing retention and expansion programs, and community outreach. Johnston has 35 years of economic development experience, most recently serving as executive vice president of the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation, and has helped create and implement economic development programs that have attracted more than 100 new primary employers, billions of dollars in new capital investment and thousands of new primary job opportunities for local residents. Johnston earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Texas and received the CEcD and FM designation from the International Economic Development Council.
Liz Miller / Vice President of Communications & ResearchThis e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it As Vice President of Communications and Research, Liz Miller is responsible for the creation of all marketing collateral produced by SAEDF to assist with prospect development, as well as the public relations and advertising activities. Her research responsibilities include creating economic studies and comprehensive analysis reports of San Antonio. Miller also works with SAEDF’s president on membership recruitment and activities. Miller’s experience prior to joining SAEDF includes nearly 15 years of strategic communications management on behalf of corporate clients and retail management, and government relations in the California Governor’s Office. Miller is certified in public relations from UCLA and holds a bachelor's in communications.
Michele Boggs / Assistant Vice President of ResearchThis e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Michele Boggs joined SAEDF as Assistant Vice President of Research in June 2011. She is responsible for analyzing workforce and economic trends in the San Antonio region and coordinating economic research projects such as targeted industry studies and impact analyses. Prior to joining SAEDF, Boggs worked as a Research Analyst for the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. There she was a contributing author and researcher on various studies including the Financial Allocation Study for Texas (FAST) and the Texas in Focus series, which analyzed factors affecting the state of Texas’ economy and economic development issues unique to the various regions of the state. Boggs holds a Master's of Arts Degree in Sociology and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Texas State University.
